Initial contact with parents is usually done by phone, website or email. Information requested is generally emailed, mailed or answered by phone. A tuition schedule and application form are available to the caregivers. Admission process commences when the administrator receives a completed application form.
Available spaces are generally offered on a first come, first serve basis. However, consideration is made to ensure a balanced of mixed ages and gender in the class.
The caregiver(s) and child are scheduled for an orientation to view the class and meet with the teachers. Any additional questions regarding the Montessori philosophy and curriculum may be answered at this time. Generally, the teachers will meet scheduled visiting parents after the end of class, when the children have left the facility.
When a space is offered, the caregiver must complete and return a registration form, fee and deposit by a pre- determined due date to confirm the space. The process is complete when the school is in receipt of the registration form, child pick up authorization form, emergency contact form, consent form, health and immunization form, parent agreement, photo release form and post-dated tuition cheques.
If there are no space available for a child, after the application form is received, the child is automatically placed on a waitlist. The following applies to the caregiver:
a) Be More Montessori does not guarantee a space for a child on the waitlist.
b) An available space on the waitlist is operated in the same manner as above.
c) Priority may be given to those children who have previously had a sibling attend the school.
d) Priority may be given to those children who have had previous Montessori School experience.
The waitlist is updated on a yearly basis. Families are contacted and given information upon space availability.
A prospective parent must make arrangements with the teacher of administrator prior to viewing a class or dropping in at the school.
All new students will proceed through a gradual entry process. The particulars are outlined in a letter sent to the caregivers, if a space has been offered to them. The shortened class times will be assessed at the discretion of the teachers. Generally, class time will run between 3 hours the first week and full class time the second week. At the teacher’s discretion, at any time throughout the year, a gradual entry process may be stipulated, depending on the individual child.
