Play-Based Learning

At Be More Montessori,  we do not only explore the Montessori Method but also work hand in hand with play-based Learning.

Play-Based Learning provides  opportuities for children to develop a sense of the world around them through inquiry, exploration, interaction and problem solving.

Play contributes to language acquistion, early literacy, conceptual learning, problem solving, large and small motor skills and creativity. Children are most receptive to learning during play and exploration, and are generally willing to persist in order to learn something new or solve a problem.

During play, children use all their senses, communicate their thoughts and emotions, explore their environment, and connect what they already know with new knowledge, skills and atitudes. They bring their language, customs and culture into the classroom as they reveal themselves to their classmates and teachers through play.

Our classroom is full of many wonderful toys that children are drawn to such as:  Blocks, Legos, Trains, Play dough, cars, dinosarusurs and a farm.  We also have a huge Doll house and Castle filled with furniture and people.  We have a play kitchen, dolly corner and dress-up station.

The classroom is full of sensory activities that stimulate the children's senses: Touch, Smell, Taste, Sight and Hearing.  These activites facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore.
